We give the welcome to the MagNeO project and their partners to the Community projects working in the challenge to develop a more green society through the development of sustainable permanent magnets. The MagneO project has the main goal to replace rare earth elements (REE) in the production of permanent magnets (PM) with REE-free AlNiCo (Aluminium, Nickel, Cobalt) alloys, which are most promising due to their higher coercivity at elevated temperatures. Additionally, the project aims at developing new recycling strategies to reduce Europe’s dependence on unstable markets and to facilitate green transition. It has been financed in the framework of the EU Topic Advanced materials for magnets in applications for the New Energies Market, HORIZON-CL4-2023-RESILIENCE-01-37.
MagNEO’s consortium is an intersectoral team of 16 partners from 10 different European countries and comprises a team of professionals including research organisations, technology providers, manufacturing companies, and universities, standardisation specialists and experts for skill development, communication, dissemination and exploitation. For more information contact to the Coordinator Dr. Spyros Diplas from SINTEF (Spyros.Diplas@sintef.no).
